The Maine State Police is seeking certified law enforcement officers to join our team for our NEW non-residential certified officer collegiate training program. The program is open to all in state and out of state certified officers. All new hires into this program will be commuting daily to the training venues with a state issued vehicle. If academy housing is requested accommodations will be considered.
++Eligibility Requirements for Certified Officers++
Have successfully graduated from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy Basic Law Enforcement Program one (1) year prior to filing an application for employment with the Maine State Police. A comparative full time law enforcement academy for out of state certified law enforcement is acceptable pending the certification meets or exceeds the Maine Criminal Justice Academy (MCJA) graduation requirements.
Have successfully completed their departments Field Training Program and be off department probation.
Must be in good standing with their department and have received an annual performance evaluation that meets or exceeds performance expectations.
Must successfully complete and pass the Cooper Physical Fitness standards at the 50th percentile based on age and gender.
Eligible candidates may apply for direct hire positions into one or more field troops of their choosing. They are as follows:
Southern Field Troop: York, Oxford, Cumberland, Androscoggin County
Central Field Troop: Kennebec, Lincoln, Knox, Sagadahoc, Waldo, Somerset, Franklin County
*_Northern Field Troop: *_Penobscot, Piscataquis, Washington, Hancock County
*_Troop F: *_Aroostook County
Troop G: Maine Turnpike
Troop I: Maine Interstate System
Choose from a wide variety of specialty teams within one (1) year of service with the State Police. These units fall under the Special Services Division. They were formed in response to a specific and specialized need to support field and investigative operations. These units are comprised of specially selected and trained members of the Maine State Police. Deployments occur statewide and may be requested at any time by a law enforcement agency.
