The City of Findlay, (OH) is seeking energetic individuals who thrive in multi tasking situations, are professional, and have the desire to help others in their time of need. Public Safety Communications Officers dispatch police/fire/EMS services for a population of 40,000+. Dispatchers operate multiple computer programs and telephone systems. Dispatchers also utilize radio systems to communicate directly with police/fire/EMS units in the field, as well as other agencies.
An open competitive examination for Public Safety communications Officer (Dispatcher) for the City of Findlay is announced by the Civil Service Commission to be held on October 17, 2022 and October 18, 2022 (various exam times) in the Findlay Police Training Center located at 224 West Crawford St. Findlay, Ohio 45840. This exam will start on time and no late arrivals are permitted, unless good cause is shown. Only those applicants who have returned their Civil Service Application to the Civil Service Commission before the deadline date will be permitted to take the exam. ++Applicants are required to complete a Civil Service Application and contact the Civil Service Commission at 419-424-7112 to schedule an exam date and time.++

- Age: 18+
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience: Not Required
Must have no felony criminal record. Non violent misdemeanors and Minor traffic violations will be evaluated.
Must be fingerprinted and pass extensive background investigation.
Must pass a medical exam given by a designated physician and a psychological exam given by a designated psychologist certifying that the applicant meets the physical and psychological requirements necessary to perform the duties of a dispatcher.
Must pass a drug screen test.
Must become a resident of Hancock County or one of the contiguous counties within 6 months of appointment.
Must become a Notary Public within 90 days following appointment. (Process paid for by the Employer)
Must successfully complete the Association of Public Safety Communications (APCO) Basic Telecommunicator and Emergency Medial Dispatching courses within 6 months after the date of hire. (Training provided by employer)
