Weld County Regional Communications Center (WCRCC) is a busy emergency communications center located in Greeley, Colorado. We service every police, fire and EMS agency in Weld County. We answer 911 emergency calls, as well as non-emergency administrative calls.
The starting pay is $23.72 - $30.02 per hour plus benefits (see benefits tab on the job posting).
As an applicant for this position, you should be aware of Senate Bill 19-085, the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The act requires employers to announce the pay range for job openings. This range encompasses the nine pay steps available should you receive the position and demonstrate satisfactory performance over time.
Receive citizen requests for emergency service assistance, dispatch emergency service agencies to those requests and to monitor and document the activity of responding agency personnel. Fielding calls from non-English speaking, deaf or hearing/speech impaired, children, the elderly, those with mental stability issues and using the appropriate techniques/resources to effectively communicate with them and gather the information necessary to generate a call for service.
EXPERIENCE: • Previous experience dispatching for police, fire or ambulance services desirable;
• Two years customer service experience required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively and relay information to customers who are in a state of emotional distress or under the influence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
