The Kechi Police Department is seeking a motivated individual to join our department as a full-time Police Officer. Our department is looking for a professional, motivated person with strong moral character, who has an interest in protecting and serving the residents of a small family-oriented community which takes great pride in its small-town feel. Applicants should possess a community-orienting policing mindset, and should possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
The position is responsible for providing public safety, enforcing local, state, and federal laws, investigating crimes and traffic accidents, serving, and protecting the community and building strong working partnerships with the community and stakeholders.
Qualified candidates must be 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, and have no felony, serious misdemeanor, or domestic violence convictions. State Certified Officers are preferred, but not required.
Salary DOQ, pay range $48,310 - $60,336, consideration given for qualifications and experience. In addition to salary, the city provides a benefit package to include enrollment in the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System, Blue Cross/Blue Shield health insurance, YMCA Membership options, sick-time, vacation, and holidays.
Candidate(s) must be able to pass a background investigation, drug testing, physical exam, psychological exam and any additional requested testing.

Vision adequate to operate vehicles and equipment, read instructions and follow directions, read maps and small print, detect subtle shades of color; hearing adequate to distinguish mechanical noises, converse on radio, telephone and in person at distances of up to 50 feet, and detect unusual sounds; voice volume and speech clarity to command during an emergency; body mobility adequate to operate emergency equipment and perform required duties; stamina to perform administrative functions and to meet physical and mental demands during an emergency; use of hands and fingers adequate for operation of special equipment and weapons, writing, typing and computer related functions; ability to lift heavy equipment, as needed in emergency conditions.
