Lancaster County, South Carolina is one of the fastest growing counties in South Carolina, bordering York, Chester and Kershaw Counties, South Carolina and Mecklenburg and Union Counties, North Carolina. The County is seeking a motivated Public Safety Communications Director to direct the Lancaster County 911 Dispatch Center. The ideal candidate is adept at working in a dynamic environment, training and motivating employees, and has experience working with other county departments and outside agencies.
The Public Safety Communications Director is responsible for supervising the department of 30 full time employees, and ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of dispatching services to the responding agencies of the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, EMS, Fire Rescue and the City of Lancaster Police Department. Responsible for a combined department and 911 Fund budget of $3.4 million, the position reports to the County Administrator.

Qualified candidates should possess over four years of experience in public safety communications, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities, including supervisory experience. Within two years of hire, must successfully complete required courses through the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy Division, Emergency Medical Dispatch and Advance Fire Dispatch and CPR. Must hold a valid driver's license.
