Job Description
The Town of Provincetown is seeking candidates with excellent problem solving and communication skills to join our exceptional public safety team as Police Officers. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age; must have successfully completed a POST compliant full-time police academy or equivalent, WITH 2 YEARS MINIMUM EXPERIENCE after graduation in accordance with MGL Chapter41, Section 96B; possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to acquire a Massachusetts Class A License to Carry Firearms; must be available to work all shifts for a 24/7 operation, including weekends and holidays; possess strong problem-solving abilities with a high level of integrity, and have effective verbal and written communication skills. Additional Information
Candidates will be subjected to an extensive background investigation, negative check of the candidate on the National Decertification Index, medical evaluation, psychological screening, and Physical Abilities Test (PAT). Those chosen must fulfill all additional statutory requirements set forth by the Peace Officer and Standards Commission (POST) to become a Certified Law Enforcement Officer under Chapter. 6E Section 4. Starting salary range is $66,739 to start. Top Step is $81,178. Additional compensation is available through shift differential, educational incentive and longevity pay for qualified applicants, as well as through private event paid details and overtime assignments. Special assignments include School Resource Officer, Detectives, Motor Officer, Court Officer, CCRLEC SWAT (Tactical Response Team), CCDTF (Cape Cod Drug Task Force) Department Armorer, and Firearms Instructor. A generous benefits package including but not limited to paid time off and 70% employer paid health insurance is provided. Life, accident, dental, vision, and disability insurance is also offered.
