We hire at the following rates for Wyoming Peace Officer certifications:
Temporary Peace Officer ($54,620), Basic Peace Officer Certification ($56,700), Advanced Peace Officer ($58,864) and Professional Peace Officer ($61,089). Officers earn a $2.00/hour shift differential. Officers assigned to the Patrol Division work approximately 1040 hours eligible for the shift differential.
Wyoming P.O.S.T. will determine certification equivalencies for out of state hires.

Police officers have the opportunities to expand their careers by serving in the Criminal Investigations Division, Field Training Office Program, K-9 program, School Resource Officer Program, Firearms Program, Custody and Control Program, Less Lethal Program, all while living at the eastern base of the Big Horn Mountains in northern Wyoming.
Chief Koltiska welcomes a variety of experiences and backgrounds. Desired experiences may include a current law enforcement certification, an Associate Degree or higher, military service, community service and proven strength of character. The Sheridan Police Department offers written testing services for the position of Police Officer through National Testing Network (NTN).
