Police Officier

Under general guidance of the shift Sergeant or shift Lieutenant, patrolmen do general duty police work investigations, and miscellaneous duties, performed in accordance with Division rules and regulations. Patrolmen enforce laws and ordinances, which involve an element of personal danger. Patrolmen respond to citizen calls for service and assist the public any way within their power.

A civil service entrance level examination will be given for the position of PATROL OFFICER *_for the City of Defiance, Ohio. All interested candidates must take the Front-Line exam through the National Testing Network prior to *_09/01/2022.

The starting hourly wage is $22.45 to $31.53 per hour with a benefit package that includes paid Holidays, Sick days, and Vacation days (two weeks – five weeks annually). Competitive health care, dental insurance, vision insurance, and life insurance provided.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.). No law enforcement experience is required. Candidates must pass the written and physical examination. If an individual is currently a sworn law enforcement officer, they may qualify for a competitive lateral transfer process (please inquire with the Chief of Police if qualified).
