1. Where did your company name originate from?
Trijicon's name can be broken down into three parts. The "Tri" is for the tritium used in our products. The "icon" refers to our goal to be an icon in the gunsight industry. The "j" connects "Tri" and "icon" together and makes three dots in the word, which resembles our tritium-filled night sights.
2. What was the inspiration behind starting your company?
Glyn Bindon was the inspiration behind starting Trijicon. While visiting friends in South Africa in 1980, Mr. Bindon met a friend who had developed a luminous gunsight. This gentleman had hoped to sell it in America. Mr. Bindon brought a sample back home and soon discovered there was a market for the sight. He thus began his move into the gunsight business – working off the shelf in his home family room.
