1. Where did your company name originate from? 
We knew that law enforcement officers did not receive consistent tactics training past their initial academy. The lack of consistent training is the biggest problem we see in our communities today. We see either underreaction or overreaction in critical use of force situations. 

We decided on Complete Tactical Consultants to give the officers the complete tactical solution to most situations that our officers are involved in when it goes hands-on. We had to come up with a product or course that covered all of the variables that law enforcement officers have to deal with and create a complete plan to take away the uncertainties that a call can cause, in an instant, if not properly trained. 

CTC came up with the T.A.P. Tactical Athlete Program courses for the individual officer (certification course) and for the defensive tactics instructors (instructor course). Then, we created a way for departments to implement the T.A.P. into their entire agency.

2. What was the inspiration behind starting your company? 
To create a complete program and solve one of the biggest problems we see in our communities throughout the U.S. — lack of consistent training. We saw an opportunity to change the LE culture. 

We wanted to develop a program that assists LE officers through the mental cycle of high-intensity calls. We consulted with may specialists in several disciplines to develop our program. Developing well-trained, mentally and physically healthy officers, as well as providing the tools to accomplish these goals has been our focus. More than four years in developing, including a beta test agency to refine the program, has made it the most complete program on the market today.  

3. What is your signature product and how does it work? 
We have the T.A.P. Certification Course, which is an online learning course that the officer has 24/7 access to so they can reference the information at any time. The cost is $198 for 24 months access.

Officers will go through a nutrition module, mental health awareness module, verbal de-escalation module, performance enhancement techniques module, legal module, as well as around 80 tactics techniques that they can practice from the convenience of using a phone or computer so they can go at their own pace.

We also have a T.A.P. virtual studio where we give the officers nutrition meals, workouts, stretching modules, live online classes where they can join in from anywhere in the country and participate in the class.    

The next program is the T.A.P. Instructor Course. This is a five-day, 40-hour, Train the Trainer program for $595. We take the defensive tactics instructors and teach them how to teach and go through how to implement the program into their agency. We have also developed and provide complete lesson plans for every aspect of the T.A.P. program for instructors. Every technique has its own video that can be referenced by instructors during their classes. Further, it allows for consistency while presenting each technique to officers during training. 

Once again, we went a step further by developing the Agency Program. This enables the entire agency to participate and the training of individual officers can be tracked by training units and administrators. We assign each agency an administrator to control officers training time and progress. An instructor or command officer will be able to follow the progress of all officers that are taking the certification course. 

This saves the instructor and the agency time and money and keeps everyone on track. Agency pricing is not on the website. It is determined by the number of officers in the agency. We offer a 12-month program or a 36-month program. Our instructor course and recertifications are included with the three-year program.

4. Why do you believe your products are essential to the law enforcement community?
It solves the No. 1 problem facing the LEO community today: lack of training. It's also affordable yet provides the most advanced training on the LE market. We have worked hard to help solve the issues that departments face in officer use of force cases. By providing a complete program that increases officer mental health, fitness, understanding people with mental health crises and confidence in use of force situations, our goal is to limit the amount of force used, as well as give officers the tools to remain safe in an unsafe environment. 

5. What has been the biggest challenge your company has faced? 
People not knowing who we are and agencies not understanding what benefits the T.A.P. will have in their agency.   

6. What makes your company unique? 
No other defensive tactics company has the complete program that gives officers 24/7 access to live classes or reference videos. It also gives the officers the training they need during the pre-crisis, crisis and post-crisis of call. We have addressed the mental health component not with only those we encounter on calls, but, just as importantly, officer mental health. We focused on officer eating habits, nutrition and provide cheat sheets for grocery shopping, meals plans and water intake. We emphasize knowing laws and agency policy for use of force incidents. It’s a well-rounded, complete program.

7. What do your customers like best about you and your products? 
With our certification course, all of the information is online, providing 24/7 access from any phone or tablet. We go through and give the officer routines that they can do to prepare them for duty. We have live training so officers can train from anywhere in the country.  

Our instructor course includes a reference video for every technique, which provides consistency while teaching. There is a natural flow from one series of techniques into another. Every lesson plan is templated saving time and money, increasing teaching time, making the program more efficient and provides the necessary documentation of what was taught.

8. What is the most rewarding part of serving the first responder community? 
This program is going to change the culture of all law enforcement and saves lives.

9. What's next for your company? Any upcoming new projects or initiatives?   
We are working diligently to provide the most advanced, comprehensive training to officers throughout the country. Our goal is to provide training that improves officer performance, reduces the amount of force required to control a situation and have everyone go home safe at the end of their shift. Spreading the necessity and value of the program nationwide is our focus. Confident officers become more competent officers.
