Police1 Staff Report
(SAVANNAH, Ga.) -- Police have arrested an 18-year-old suspected of firing a .38-caliber pistol at an officer.
Tyquan Gardner was arrested without incident around noon on Nov. 24 near Fellwood Homes, authorities said.
“When he saw all the officers coming, he didn’t put up any resistance,” Detective Robert Gavin told the Savannah Morning News.
The teen was charged with one count of aggravated assault on a police officer, two counts of armed robbery and one count of auto theft, according to the News.
Gardner’s first brush with the law came in September, when he was implicated in a car theft, Gavin told the News.
In Oct. he was suspected of carjacking a Beach High School student.
On Nov. 23 Gardener allegedly robbed the Pal Superette on Drayton Street. The same day an officer spotted the youth on a bike about 4:45 and got out of his cruiser to question him. Gardner allegedly got off his bike and fired once at the officer, whose name has not been released.
Gardner fled, dropping the gun at the scene. The officer, who was unharmed, chased the suspect, but could not catch him.
Gardner is being held without bail at Chatham County Jail. A preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 18, the newspaper reported.
