MEDFORD, Mass. -- State police are probing a gunshot fired at two state troopers who were working a paid highway detail early yesterday morning.
The troopers were stationed on Interstate 93 North near Route 60 in Medford at 1 a.m. when a small, four-door sedan drove by and someone appeared to fire a single round in the direction of the troopers, according to state police.
Troopers observed a muzzle flash and heard the gun discharge.
The bullet did not hit the troopers or objects or cars in the area, state police say. The troopers were not able to pursue the vehicle because of the traffic conditions at the time, state police say.
State police spokesman trooper Sean Lewis would not release more details yesterday about the incident, citing the ongoing investigation.
