DALLAS – A photographer documenting the march against police violence in Dallas on Thursday is thanking the officer who protected him after gunfire erupted.

A series of photos capturing the officer keeping photographer Robert Moore out of the line of fire were posted to Moore’s Facebook page on Friday.

According to Fox 4, Moore ran for shelter behind a car shortly after the attack began. The officer, who has not been identified, moved in front of Moore to protect him.

“When it was time to try to leave, he [the officer] said, ‘I’m gonna stand up. You stand behind me, and we’re gonna back out,’” Moore told the publication. “He stood in front of me basically to shield me as we exited the area. How do you not thank somebody like that?”

“I spent two hours last night crouching behind a car at Lamar and Main, trying to “get small! get small!” Much of it with this guy. I don’t know his name but I won’t forget him,” Moore wrote in a Facebook post.
