Kevin Banks is sitting in the Guntersville Jail. Police say he lead 17 law enforcement agencies on a chase in three counties. One deputy was hurt along the way.
Police say it started when Banks stole a GMC Yukon in Albertville Thursday morning. Boaz and Sardis police spotted the vehicle, and the chase began. Through Marshall, Etowah and DeKalb Counties, one police agency would drop off and another one would pick up the chase.
It started at eleven in the morning and ended at two in the afternoon. Police say Banks turned onto South Sauty Road in Marshall County. The bridge is out on the road, so faced with taking a plunge off the edge, Banks drove the vehicle down the bank and into Lake Guntersville.
An Alabama Department of Revenue officer was there waiting. Banks has been taken to the Guntersville Jail, but will face charges in several cities.
During the chase, a state trooper and three DeKalb County Deputies crashed. One of those deputies, Brad Edmondson had to be taken to Marshall Medical Center South. He’s expected to be okay. Banks could face an attempted murder charge because of Edmondson’s wreck.
