A Harris County (TX)sheriff’s deputy and an innocent bystander were injured Thursday afternoon when their cars collided and flipped on their sides following a chase.
Officials said the deputy was chasing suspects wanted for drug possession when he collided with a Saturn on Nimitz and Nadolney in northeast Harris County shortly after 3 p.m. The Saturn had nothing to do with the chase, officials said. It is not yet known how fast the vehicles were traveling when they collided.
“As deputies were pursuing the suspects, one deputy eastbound on Nimitz, went through the intersection. A 35-year-old male driving a 1995 Saturn was southbound on Nadolney. The vehicles struck in the intersection. The driver of the Saturn has been transported to a local hospital,” a Harris County sheriff’s deputy said.

Howard Harrison saw the chase and crash.
“Lights were on. Sirens were on and they were coming through,” he said. “It was just a car crash. That’s all I can tell you. It’s a noise you can’t explain. It’s just a big boom. That’s all it is. That’s pretty much what we saw.”
The driver of the Saturn was taken to an area hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
The drug suspects were taken into custody a few blocks from the scene.
