Allegations that former Shelbyville, Indiana Police Chief Kehrt Etherton asked some officers’ wives for sexual favors have spilled into a federal lawsuit.
Nearly half of Shelbyville’s police force sued Etherton and city officials earlier this month, accusing them of misconduct ranging from ghost employment to sexual harassment.
Indiana State Police are investigating many of the charges and are preparing to forward their findings to the Shelby County Prosecutor.
Etherton was treasurer of the Shelbyville F-O-P, but stepped down last year at the request of the lodge.
He retains his position as treasurer of the state F-O-P.
There are forty-one officers on the force in Shelbyville, about twenty miles Southeast of Indianapolis.
