LAS VEGAS, N.M. (AP) - Law enforcement officers were combing the Las Vegas area Monday morning for four fugitives from the San Miguel County Detention Center.

“All four of these persons should be considered dangerous and should not be approached by citizens,” said Las Vegas Police Chief Albert Mares.

The four fugitives escaped around 3 p.m. Sunday, Mares said.

Police were withholding information on how the fugitives escaped because of security reasons.

The fugitives were Leroy Lucero, 30, Anthony Esquibel, 24, and Danny Trujillo, 20, all of Las Vegas; and Mark Kaiser, 41, of Salida, Colo.

Lucero was being held on a charge of aggravated battery on a peace officer, police said.

Esquibel was being held for probation violation, authorities said.

Trujillo was in jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, officers said.

Kaiser was being held for Taos County on charges of aggravated burglary, breaking and entering, police said.
