Police1 Staff Report
(OAKLAND, Calif.) -- A man who threatened to kill police and himself with a handgun is in stable condition after he was shot by officers on the night of Dec. 29.
Jay Sandino, 43, repeatedly pointed a gun at police and himself about 4 p.m. on Friday as he walked around Lake Merritt, according to police.
Sandino is expected to be released from Highland Hospital next week when he will be charged officially for felony-assault-on-an-officer.
Detectives have not determined a motive for his behavior, but, according to new reports, believe that the marijuana that was found on him may have been laced with hallucinogens.
