SURREY — Residents in Surrey can now check up on the location of their police officers thanks to a new mobile phone app launched yesterday.
The “trailblazing” technology allows iPhone users in Runnymede to chart crime in their area and see what each officer is working on.
Policing Minister Nick Herbert said the app, which will soon become available on Black-Berry and Google Android phones, will help police to establish the issues that are important to the local community.
“This new app not only gives residents in Surrey the ability to view what crimes are happening in a convenient format, but crucially provides them with live updates on where and how police are tackling issues,” he said.
