The Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) - A police officer was slashed in the face in Queens, and the officer’s partner then shot and wounded the suspect, police said.
The two officers - a man and a woman - had been responding to a call of a man with a gun on Ilion Street in the Hollis section at about 8 p.m. Tuesday, police said. When they approached the man, a fight broke out and he slashed the male officer on the left side of his face, from his throat to his ear.
The female officer then opened fire, striking the suspect - identified as Radcliffe Meeks, 33 - in the right elbow, police said.
The male officer was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, and the suspect was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital. Both were listed in stable condition.
The female officer was unhurt.
