(EAGLE COUNTY, Col.) -- Eagle County Sheriff A.J. Johnson has issued reprimands to 13 jail officials, including himself, stemming from the escape of three county jail inmates in August.
In a letter reviewing the year for the sheriff’s office, Johnson said deputies believe the inmates smuggled a sawing device into the jail, either during a visit or through an inmate work project.
Deputies have arrested one of the inmates, Carlos Orlando Puerto Canizales, who was being held for attempted first-degree murder at the time of the escape.
Cruz Miguel Gonzalez Hernandez, who was held on charges of assault, domestic violence and criminal impersonation, and Jesus Espinoza Dominguez, who faced charges of assault, vehicle theft and eluding, are still at large.
