(CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla.) -- A virus-tainted e-mail message that promised a picture of tennis star Anna Kournikova was sent to about 150 computers at the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office on Monday morning.
Instead of a photo, the e-mail contained a virus that tried to infect the computers.
The virus also repeatedly e-mailed itself to all the e-mail addresses stored in the computers at the Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s spokesman Dale Phillips said she received more than 125 copies of the message from Monday morning to Tuesday morning.
Sheriff’s emergency 911 coordinator Del Sherman shut down the e-mail system at 10 a.m. Monday and left it off until Tuesday morning.
He said the virus was detected by anti-virus software on the computers, and that it did not appear to do any damage.
Boy, 4, is found walking in street
A woman driving down Paulson Drive in Murdock on Monday morning found a 4-year-old boy walking in the road.
Susan Demers, 36, grabbed the diaper-clad child and took him to nearby Charlotte State Bank. Bank employees called 911.
The boy’s father, Gregory Cupka, arrived at the bank a few minutes later. He said he had been visiting family at a nearby residence and said the boy must have opened a broken gate and walked out of the yard.
The boy was returned to his parents.
