SAN LEANDRO, Calif. — One of the most heartwarming aspects of the holiday outreach at the Davis Street Family Resource Center is the Bikes for Tykes giveaway organized by Officer Louie Brandt of the San Leandro Police Department.
In this video you can hear Brandt talk about how police officers helped galvanize community support.
The veteran patrolman has built up the program over the last three years to the point where he raised around $30,000 in 2012 to purchase 385 bikes and helmets on behalf of his fellow officers.
