A 46-year-old man from The Colony on probation for drug possession was arrested Wednesday after police seized more than $88,000 worth of marijuana from his home.
Gustavo Arispe Sr. was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana more than five pounds and possession of a controlled substance under one gram. Police received a tip that suspicious packages were being mailed to Mr. Arispe’s home in the 4800 block of Woodruff Drive, near Main Street and North Colony Boulevard, from an address in Laredo.
U.S. postal inspectors obtained a search warrant for a package before it was delivered and found marijuana inside. The package was then sent to Mr. Arispe, and The Colony police obtained a search warrant for his residence.
Police said they found more than 12 pounds of marijuana and a small amount of cocaine at the home Wednesday. Police spokesman Lt. Michael Fox said more arrests were expected in this case.
At the time of his arrest, Mr. Arispe was out on bond after an arrest in Denton County last year on accusations of possession of a controlled substance and evading arrest.
Mr. Arispe was being held Thursday in The Colony jail in lieu of $550,000 bail.
