DETROIT — Officers and others meet Friday to remember the rampage a year ago, when a gunman opened fire in Detroit’s Northwestern District precinct.
Lamar D. Moore, 38, left an officer, a commander and two sergeants wounded before he was shot and killed by police on Jan. 23, 2011, the Detroit Free Press reported. Ten days prior, he reportedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl.
In the video of the incident, Moore enters and shoots at officers, lunging over a counter. Cmdr. Brian Davis fired at point-blank range, killing Moore.
No officers were killed, and no life-threatening injuries were reported.
Police Chief of Police Ralph L. Godbee Jr will speak at the gathering, which will include members of Detroit’s 6th and 8th precincts.
