TRARANT COUNTY, Texas — A puppy and two kittens were rescued in Tarrant County on Tuesday.
Tuesday was a banner day for animal rescues in Tarrant County, with authorities in two cities helping furballs in need.
In the morning, a Pantego resident called 911 after a puppy got its head stuck between a wall and a landscape border at a home on Green Tee Drive.
Tom Griffith, chief of public safety in the town of about 2,500 people, tweeted as a firefighter used a halligan bar — a tool similar to a crowbar — to pry the piece of landscaping away from the wall to free the puppy.
Griffith said that the pup was uninjured.

Meanwhile in Keller, a woman walking her dog called officials after hearing a cat in a storm drain on Rapp Road.
Firefighters responded and were able to extract a pair of kittens, which they said had been put in a purse and thrown into the drain.
Keller officials said that anyone with information about the incident should call 817-743-4500.
The kittens were headed to a rescue group for further care, and Keller police tweeted that a dispatcher had called dibs on adopting them as soon as they’re ready.
