Police, COs feed security officers at Super Bowl

Official: “We are serving hot food and coffee to 200 to 300 cops a day since Monday”

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Police Benevolence Association Local 71 is helping out Super Bowl security in the best way it can.

According to Asbury Park Press, the bus has been providing hot food, phone charging stations, warmth and a bathroom to law enforcement support personnel working at the stadium.

“We are serving hot food and coffee to 200 to 300 cops a day since Monday,” said PBA Local 71 President Gary Przewoznik.

Unfortunately for those working inside the bus, it’s parked in the farthest parking lot at MetLife Stadium, where many of the security details are set up for vehicles before they go into the main parking lots. Ocean County Corrections Officer Ed Weinner and his wife Cheryl are doing a lot of work on the bus itself.

“We can barely see the top of the stadium from where we are,” Przewoznik said, but he doesn’t mind. The bus is a “moving billboard” for the hard work that the officers do.
