SAN ANTONIO — A couple dining at a local restaurant were treated to a surprise act of kindness after accidentally leaving their charge card at home — an officer paid for their meal.
According to KENS 5, Darlene and David Weaver were preparing to retrieve the credit card when the restaurant manager shared the good news.
“He [David] went up to talk to the manager, and they said you all go on, someone paid,” Darlene said. “And he called me over and I knew immediately that it had to be the policeman.”
After getting the officer’s badge number from the restaurant cashier, Darlene wrote to the San Antonio Police Department, praising the officer. The SAPD then shared the story with the community via a Facebook post.
“Love and goodwill just never die. It’s a ripple effect and it just goes on and on and on,” Darlene said. “It just reaches out into infinity, and that’s what this officer did. He touched San Antonio.”
This isn’t the only instance in which the Weavers have had positive encounters with the SAPD. The department aided the couple through two traffic accidents and kept an eye on their house after a break-in, according to the report.
“My experience has always been that they went above and beyond to serve and protect,” Darlene said.
