5. Gladys Knight sings ‘Happy Birthday’ to cop during Utah traffic stop

Utah Officer Paul Rogerson received the ultimate surprise birthday gift when he stopped a speeding vehicle and learned the passenger was none other than legendary soul singer Gladys Knight. When Knight learned it was Rogerson’s birthday, she stepped out of the vehicle and performed an impromptu rendition of “Happy Birthday.” You never know who you’ll run into on the beat!

The officer told her it was his birthday and her response brought a smile to his face.

4. Photos: Va. officer slain on 1st shift laid to rest

The tragic killing of 28-year-old Ashley Guindon on her very first shift struck a chord with LEOs across the nation. Hundreds of cops gathered at Hylton Memorial Chapel in Woodbridge to honor the hero taken from us too soon.

Friends, family and officers gathered to remember Officer Ashley Guindon and lay her to rest.

1. Photos: NFL hopeful honors slain Va. officer

Former Virginia cornerback Maurice Canady honored slain Officer Ashley Guindon this week by wearing cleats with the officer’s name written on them while he ran the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.

One of the cleats honoring Officer Ashley Guindon will be given to her family and the other will be put up for auction.
