SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — First responders helped make a terminally-ill boy’s dream of being a “cop for a day” a reality, MassLive reported.
A health professional at the hospital the 5-year-old boy receives treatment at, reached out to local public safety officials to help make the child’s dream come true.
More than 50 first responders including the Massachusetts State Police, Springfield Police Department, paramedics and firefighters arrived at the medical center to meet the boy.
“He truly touched all of our lives,” police spokesman John Delaney told the news site.
A convoy of police, EMT and fire vehicles paraded around the hospital, while Capt. Cheryl Clapprood helped the boy work the sirens and lights in a patrol vehicle.
The child was not named due to privacy concerns.
