Company Name: Warrior Tech LLC
Headquarters: Hays, Kansas
Signature Product: Safe Cycle

Having served in the U.S.M.C. and U.S.M.C.R. from 1992 through 1998 and then immediately joining the Hays Police Department in 1998, Warrior Tech CEO Tim Greenwood was more than familiar with weapons and firearms training. The Safe Cycle was born when he noticed that as some departments share cruisers and weapons, officers changing shifts need to know whether or not a gun is cruiser-safe.

Where did your company name originate from?
I’ve often pondered that since the dawn of man, there have always been warriors - those willing to step forward and risk their lives to protect the rest of society. Over the years, the tools have changed, but the type of person is the same. My company focuses on improving those tools.

What was the inspiration behind starting your company?
It started with a work-related incident that left me with the feeling that “there has to be a better way!” I set out to solve the problem and came up with a solution. Ironically, due to the nature of things, that product is still under development.

Why do you believe your products are essential to the police community?
They improve the way we do things. They weren’t designed for profit by some suit where the ultimate goal is the bottom line. Warrior Tech’s biggest goal is helping the ones wearing the badge.

What has been the biggest challenge your company has faced?
Overhead costs and business expenses that I never dreamed of. From insurance, attorneys and devotion to being 100 percent made in the USA, it has taken more than I ever imagined.

What makes your company unique?
Our principles. We don’t say “Made in the USA” and then use screws from China. Even the plastic packaging we use is made in the USA. Everything has to be quality made and priced fairly.

What do your customers like best about you and your products?
The uniqueness. Whenever I do a demonstration, especially for a cop, I always get a “That’s cool!” response. Not the “Black Velcro, Chicks Dig It” cool, but the “that will really work” cool.

What is the most rewarding part of serving the first responder community?
Pride. The same goes when you’re patrolling or standing post early on Christmas morning, all by yourself. Part of you wants to be home with your family, but a bigger part is the pride of what you’re doing. It’s the same thing.

Is there any fun fact or trivia that you’d like to share with our users about you or your company?
Two years ago, I had the privilege of driving 23 hours with another officer to the NTOA conference in Richmond, Virginia. While there, I looked into a cruiser to see the setup and told my buddy that someday I was going to look into a cruiser and see my products keeping law enforcement officers safe. That’s still my ultimate goal.

What’s next for your company? Any upcoming projects or initiatives?
I’m still working on my ‘first’ project and closely on its heels is another. Both are patent pending, so no tidbits, but I can tell you this. Both came from me getting done with an incident and saying, “That was close! You know what we need…”
