KING CITY, Calif. — A drug-sniffing King City police dog got a workout that led to two arrests Friday, police said.
The dog was called to the 3p.m. scene of a traffic stop in the 100 block of Spruce Street and led officers to a pill bottle and small amounts of methamphetamine in a driver’s-side door panel, police said.
The driver, Fernando Orozco Chavez, was arrested on drug charges and on suspicion of driving without a license, police said.
At 9p.m., police stopped a Mercedes-Benz at Canal Street and Highway 101 for a mechanical violation. The dog “alerted” on a duffel bag on the back seat that police said contained more than 1.5pounds of marijuana.
The driver, Richard Garcia, 18, was carrying more than $2,000 in cash, police said. He was arrested on drug charges, police said.
Police said they seized both vehicles involved in the two cases.
