Chicago, Ill.- Chicago police arrested a man Monday suspected of attempted murder after a high-speed chase from the Joliet-area that nearly reached downtown Chicago.
The unidentified man was arrested several hours after exchanging gunfire with Joliet police officers, CLTV, a cable news outlet, said. He was reportedly wounded during the gunfire, but refused to stop.
Joliet police, Illinois State troopers, Cook County Sheriff’s deputies and Chicago police officers reportedly refused orders to break off the high-speed chase that covered more than 30 miles along Interstate 80 and Interstate 57.
Officials say the car might have been stolen.
The suspect was wanted in connection with an attempted murder. Officials said he was taken to Chicago’s Northwestern Memorial Hospital for treatment of bullet wounds that did not appear to be life threatening.
