Guernsey County Stand-Off Ends Without Incident

Byesville, Ohio- A 30 minute stand-off between a Cambridge man wielding a sawed off shotgun and local law enforcement officials came to an end here early August 10, 2001. The man was taken into custody without a single shot being fired. Guernsey County Sheriff’s Deputies Curtis Braniger and Jeff Tucker subdued the man at app. 1:22 a.m. by tackling him after he accidently opened the 12-gauge shotgun and revealed it was not loaded. Assisting the Sheriff’s Office was Cambridge Police, Byesville Police, Cambridge Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
