Dear Police1.com Member,
Most people don’t think of the life of a hero as long, tedious hours of paperwork. Not many would consider being cursed, threatened or even shot at as the rewards of self-sacrifice and hard work. Too often this is the case with the over 870,000 law enforcement officers that keep our nation safe on the local, state and federal level.
I am Craig Floyd, Chairman of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, and I know many heroes and their families. Since the Memorial was dedicated in October of 1991 we have honored over 16,000 law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. It is vital that we honor these women and men and remember their stories. But this is not enough.
The story of law enforcement in the United States must be recorded and told to future generations. That is why our organization is now undertaking another monumental mission-we are going to build a National Law Enforcement Museum
in Washington, D.C., right across the street from the national Memorial. Work is already well underway!
Your support is vital in this mission. I would like you to be fully informed about this project, which is so important to your profession. I would also like to keep you updated on the many other activities and programs we are involved in, including National Police Week in May. You can get all of this information for free by simply signing up today for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund e-newsletter. Just visit www.nleomf.org and enter your email address in the box in the upper right hand side of the screen. You will receive regular updates on Memorial Fund events and activities, learn of progress on the Museum project, receive information promoting officer safety, and read about the heroic deeds of law enforcement officers throughout our nation’s history.
You can also help by forwarding this letter and the e-newsletter to your friends and encouraging them to do likewise. Obviously, you have the option of removing yourself from our e-newsletter list at any time, but I am confident you will find it extremely interesting and useful. I hope you will take the time to sign up today. Thank you for your time and attention . . . and thank you for all you do to keep America safe!
Sincerely,
Craig W. Floyd, Chairman
National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund - Supporting the law enforcement profession by permanently recording and appropriately commemorating the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers.
