FRIENDSWOOD, Texas — Police continued their investigation today into a weekend burglary of a vehicle in which law enforcement identification badges and a handgun were stolen.
Lisa Price, a spokeswoman for the police department, said two sets of police officer credentials, including an identification card and badge, and a handgun were stolen about 11:30 a.m. Saturday from a car parked in the 1400 block of Sunset.
Police said the burglar smashed the driver’s side window and grabbed a purse that was on the floorboard and a wallet that was on the seat.
According to the victims’ statements, a white male, about 20 years of age, was observed in the area just prior to the burglary. The man, who was wearing a red, white and black striped shirt, black dress pants and a black hat, was seen looking at a car advertised for sale in the driveway.
The stolen credentials belonged to a female Galveston County Sheriff’s deputy and the other credentials to a Texas City Police Department patrol officer, Price said.
Anyone with information about the case should contact the Friendswood Police Department at 281-996-3300.
