(MEDFIELD, Mass.) -- A Millis woman who allegedly ran down and killed a Medfield police officer directing traffic at a construction site last year has been indicted on charges of motor vehicle homicide, driving to endanger and speeding.
Rita L. Garland, 56, allegedly drove her car into 38-year-old Medfield police officer Daniel J. McCarthy on Route 109 in Millis last Sept. 21. Prosecutors say Garland was speeding during the morning rush hour when she came up over a hill and slammed into McCarthy.
She faces up to 2 1-2 years in county jail if convicted.
