GARDEN CITY, Idaho — Police in southwestern Idaho are investigating after burglars broke into a woman’s home and stole her husband’s ashes.
Nicole McDonald told Boise television station KTVB that she came home from work Thursday evening to find the kitchen door of her Garden City home was wide open. Inside, she discovered that computers, furniture and jewelry were missing along with cash that she had been saving to buy Christmas gifts for her 9-year-old twins.
The thieves also took a decorative mahogany box from the mantel. The box was filled with her late husband’s cremated remains.
McDonald says she just wants her husband’s ashes back. She hopes whoever has them will leave them on her front porch, no questions asked.
