NEW YORK — The NYPD nabbed a Manhattan bank thief by more than a whisker.
Two police officers assigned to the 6th Precinct Cabaret Unit busted a serial bank bandit Saturday night in Greenwich Village after they recognized his “Hitler-like mustache,” law-enforcement sources said yesterday.
The eagle-eyed cops were monitoring a surveillance camera in an NYPD Mobile Command Center at Washington Square Park near Thompson Street around 11:30 p.m. when they spotted a man fitting the description of alleged stickup thug Djamil Aziz, sources said.
“What really caught their eye was his mustache and his height. He’s . . . tall, 6-foot-2, with a Hitler-like mustache,” said one law-enforcement source.
Between March 29 and April 15, Aziz allegedly hit four Manhattan banks and one in Brooklyn, making off with nearly $10,000.
