PORTLAND, Ore. — The FBI has joined the expanding search for an Oregon second-grader who vanished after his stepmother left him at his Portland elementary school Friday morning.
Detectives on Sunday interviewed parents and students at the school in the search for 7-year-old Kyron Horman.
The boy and his stepmother attended a science fair at the school early Friday. She last saw him walking down a hallway toward his classroom about 8:45 a.m.
Police say Kyron did not return home on the bus as scheduled. The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office was contacted at about 4 p.m.
The FBI has dispatched its Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team, but Sheriff Dan Staton says he’s not prepared to call the boy’s disappearance a kidnapping.
