A string of hotel robberies in the area has area police on alert.
Hotels in Lenexa, Overland Park and Kansas City were hit Tuesday within a few minutes of each other.
The first hotel hit was the Clubhouse Inn at 106th and Marty in Overland Park. Three robbers dressed in black rushed into the hotel’s lobby. One man pointed a shotgun at the desk clerk’s chest and demanded money.
Moments later, three men in black showed up at the Courtyard Marriott on 105th Street in Kansas City. The would-be thieves ran off when employees spotted them before unlocking the hotel doors.
A short time later, two men dressed in gray robbed the Inn Town Lodge on Northeast 43rd Street in Kansas City. Detectives are still trying to determine if the same men robbed all three establishments, but police said at least two of the robberies are connected.
No one was hurt.
