Silver Spring, Md. (AP) - Three men have been arrested and charged for holding a Prince George’s County businessman hostage for half a million dollars in ransom.
Montgomery County police discovered the unidentified man bound with duct tape in the back of a car they’d been chasing early Saturday morning.
The chase started after two officers noticed a Dodge Durango and Eagle Vision speeding south on Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring.
The driver tried to out run police when they tried to pull him over. His car crashed in front of the Maryland Park Police Headquarters on Layhill Road.
The driver was 25 year old Anthony Robertson of Temple Hills and the passenger was 26 year old Jelani Johnson of Greenbelt. Both fled, but were caught by police.
That’s when they discovered the 27 year old kidnap victim. He told police two strange men flashed a badge and claimed to be FBI agents in front of his Camp Springs home. They took him to an unknown location and beat him. His brother paid the men $18,000 dollars.
About an hour after the police rescued the victim, another officer spotted the Dodge Durango at a 7-Eleven. Police arrested the driver, 24 year old Quentin McQueen of D.C.
Police say they searched an Aspen Hill home this morning and found cash and other evidence connected to the kidnapping.
