Ohio police arrest teen after pellets shot at school

Police say teen was charged with inducing panic and three counts of assault

HAMILTON, Ohio — Police have arrested a 13-year-old boy after his southwest Ohio school said he shot plastic pellets at several students.

Hamilton police say school officials called to report that the boy had brought an air soft-type weapon onto Garfield Junior High School grounds on Thursday. Police say he was charged with inducing panic and three counts of assault. All the charges are misdemeanors and will be heard in juvenile court.

Police Sgt. Ed Buns says police and the Hamilton City School District are working together closely on this case and other recent incidents. He says they plan to present a program for students to educate and reinforce about the consequences of their actions.

The incident came after recent disruptions of the several schools in the Butler County area from bomb threats.
