DENVER — Two teens are facing more than 120 charges each, including first-degree attempted murder, after they were arrested in connection with the June shooting of a Douglas County sheriff’s deputy.
Brandin Eugene Kreuzer, 19, of Sedalia, and Taylor Lynn Moudy, 19, of Castle Rock, made their first appearance in court Monday, following their arrest Wednesday.
Kreuzer is the son of veteran Denver police officer Kevin Kreuzer. Moudy is a freshman engineering major at the University of Colorado.
The pair are suspects in a June 28 burglary and auto theft that ended with one or both of the suspects shooting at deputies, hitting one in the arm, said county officials.
Douglas County District Attorney Carol Chambers on Monday filed charges against each teen.
Kreuzer was charged with 121 counts, and Moudy has been charged with 122 counts.
The charges included attempted first-degree murder of a peace officer and reckless endangerment.
Each teen could face up to 780 years in prison on the most serious charges.
Kreuzer’s preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 18. Moudy’s next court appearance is Dec. 5.
The pair remain in the Douglas County jail, with Kreuzer’s bail set at $3 million and Moudy’s at $2 million.
The families of the teens could not be reached for comment Monday.
