NOLENSVILLE, Tenn. — A fired Nolensville police officer now has his job back after a Williamson County Circuit Court Judge overturned a decision by town officials Monday.
Judge Robert E. Lee Davies ruled in favor of Officer Charlie Holt, whom Nolensville’s police chief Paul Rigsby fired in April. The town’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen upheld the termination, though Holt appealed the decision.
In his court filing, Holt’s attorney Mark Mayhew said the town did not follow its own personnel and grievance policies in firing his client.
Mayor Beth Lothers said there “may be a potential appeal” by the town, and that they are looking at some of the language in their policies.
“It sounds like the judge had a question of our procedures manual that we knew there was some erroneous language that needed to be cleared up,” she said.
Lothers said she already had a state advisor look at the town’s personnel and policy manuals, and a recommendation for some rewording will go before the board at its October meeting.
“We are already on top of some of the language,” Lothers said.
