COLORADO SPRINGS — A Denver police officer is facing charges after a standoff with police Friday night.
Colorado Springs television station KKTV reported the officer’s name as Michael Gonzales.
Police said the officer’s wife went to a police substation with the couple’s two children Friday night, and told them Gonzales assaulted her.
Police said when they responded to the home, Gonzales had a gun and initially refused to come out.
He later surrendered peacefully and was arrested.
Gonzales is facing a charge of third-degree assault related to domestic violence.
Police said they confiscated his handgun.
