NEW ORLEANS- A five-year veteran of the New Orleans Police Department has been arrested for allegedly being in possession of a stolen pickup truck, Superintendent Warren Riley said Sunday.
Reginald Privott, 30, was booked Friday on one count each of possession of stolen property, possession of marijuana and possession of cocaine, Riley said in a news release. Privott resigned following his arrest, he said.
An investigation began several days ago after members of the department’s Public Integrity Bureau received a tip that Privott might be in possession of a stolen vehicle, the police chief said.
After placing Privott’s apartment under surveillance, investigators confirmed a truck reported stolen a year ago was at his home, Riley said.
The department has turned the investigation over to the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, he said.
