ROCKFORD, Ill. — Rappers who remade the NWA song “F--- tha Police” to condemn local officer-involved shooting incidents are apologizing for posting the music video to YouTube.
“If you ask me, they’re the biggest gang with a badge, crooked cops gonna take the evidence to crime labs,” one lyric says.
It was viewed at a City Council meeting Monday night and caused a stir when Alderman Carl Wasco said anyone who threatens officers should be held accountable, WIFR reported. He wants the city attorney to review the video.
“We don’t want war going on in this town with like people versus the police, we don’t want that at all,” said Nieci Agee, the female lead in the video.
Lamont Powell, the male lead, said he regrets making it. Both artists say they didn’t intend to cause trouble.
“We apologize if it’s hurt anyone,” Agee said.
