Students at different universities across the United States received emergency evacuation alerts that were a result of a “vendor error,” Fox 34 reported.

The schools, including Texas Tech, Baylor, Penn State, and the University of Mississippi, stated on Twitter the alerts were sent in error and it’s believed the message originated at Lone Star College.

The vague messages, sent around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, called for an evacuation of all buildings and to await further instructions.

Lone Star College had a gas leak in the cafeteria. The area was evacuated and no one was hurt, according to ABC 13.
