ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A body camera captured an Albuquerque officer at the moment he rescued an unresponsive baby, KOAT reports.
The officer, Martin Smith, responded to a call May 14 from a distraught family about an unresponsive infant.
“I started rubbing her chest and blowing in her face ... and she started coming out of it,” Smith told KOAT. “That (woke her).”
The baby’s mother was overjoyed and said Smith is a hero in an interview with KOAT.
“If it wasn’t for him, who knows what the outcome of the situation could have been,” she told the publication.
The infant was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with a seizure disorder. She is on medication and was last reported to be doing well.
